The last thing was a trash can I bought to use for recycling. I found out it was too large (has to be 10 gallons or less to use without a bag FYI) before I used it. Yes, it took me about a month to return it but I had surgery for Christ's sake. I brought it into the store and the girl looks in it, sees a speck of dust and tells me it can't be returned because it looks like it's been used. I am going to bet that every trash can they have there looks like that just from sitting in the store.

Why all of a sudden no returns on anything that has been used? This is literally at least the 4th thing I've returned that they have tried to deny because it's been used. Even if it doesn't frickin WORK they will not return something if it's been "used". When did returning things to Target become such a pain in the ass? They used to be just about the most customer friendly store and lately they have done a complete 180. I never thought I'd say this but I might as well shop at Walmart, at least they are reasonable about taking things back when they don't work the way you expect them too.

Midtown on the web

I was curious what google would have to say about Midtown since it's not really as widely used or known as other areas around the city such as Uptown, Downtown, Dinkytown and such.

Google the phrase "Midtown Minneapolis" and you get this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midtown,_Minneapolis

OK, I have never even been tempted to create a Wikipedia account to edit a page, but I am seriously considering it just so I can add Midown Girl to the list of "many places and groups [that] use he "midtown' descriptor in their name". I was a little confused for a minute. Then I saw some guy out there taking pictures with a cell phone camera. I ran around the house trying to find my camera to get some pics of my own.

Right here in Midtown, here is what I found:

Two wild turkeys!! Where the hell did those come from? By the time I snapped some decent pictures they had made their way to the alley (that is currently torn up due to sewer repair). For those who don't know me, and don't know of my love of gay people and gay bars, rest assured that this post is nothing against gay people. It's about a jerk who happens to be gay. So, here it is:

First off, you are the Goddamn ugliest gay man I have EVER seen in my life. Is that even "gay legal" to look like that? You make Bruce Vilanch look like Rock Hudson! I know you had your fanny pack in quite a twist this afternoon, but let me just explain to you exactly what was going on there. For your convenience, and because I think you are a complete moron I have added a picture to illustrate my story.

I pulled into the parking lot and turned into the lane you had parked in. At the time that I turned in, the worker had brought three carts out of the cart corral and was standing in the lane. I stopped to let him finish and pass. While this was going on, you decided to exit your spot and for whatever reason you HAD to go down the way that this was all going on instead of being aware of your surroundings and going the other way which would have been just as easy. I see you coming and because of the carts I realize you will not be able to get through, so i back up to allow you to pass. I THOUGHT I was being a nice person since it was actually your half of the row that was blocked. For whatever reason, as you pull past me, you feel the need to stop, look at me, put your ugly fingers up to your ear like a telephone and angrily yell "GET OFF THE PHONE!!! PUT THE PHONE DOWN!!!" I had just answered the fucking phone you ugly douche, and I was sitting in a parking lot for fuck's sake, what Goddamn difference does it make to you? FUCK OFF!!! I know it sucks to be so ugly and see people who are actually good looking and who actually have people who want to talk to them, but you don't have to lash out at me. Here's you:

P.s. So I fell. My elbow and knee got the brunt of it. My bike was unharmed since it landed on top of me. The good news is there were no cars coming down the alley. ;) I looked around to make sure no one had seen me, got up, brushed myself off and rode around to the front of the house.

This week I hope to ride the Midtown Greenway. Or maybe some training wheels.

I wish...

Sometimes you hear a song whose sentiment just seems to fit at the moment.

creepy

This was on my front fence the other day. They made the announcement during bingo and it was scary because no one really knew what was going on. Cell phones weren't working because the lines were all jammed. Luckily everyone I knew was OK. Last week my friends and I went to dinkytown to check out the progress on the 35W bridge rebuilding.

These guys were out working on a Sunday. They are really trying to get this bridge back up and running. The bridge is supposed to be back up and running in a few months. It was surreal to be there, you couldn't help but think about what those people went through that day.

Pineda Tacos

Pineda Tacos
311 E. Lake St. Minneapolis

I stopped in at Pineda Tacos on E. Lake on a whim, and because it smelled delicious. I'd also heard they had great tacos. When you walk in, you see trays of different meats that can be used in tacos or burritos. It looks like a much less slick and streamlined Chipotle. I'll be honest and admit I had no idea what some of this stuff was. I ordered a couple of chicken tacos. They have 3 types of chicken to choose from, a spicy chicken, a mild chicken and a chicken in verde sauce. I chose one spicy and one mild.

The tacos are wrapped up in double corn tortillas (you can choose flour if you wish), which really helps because the chicken is marinated and juicy, which softens the tortilla and tends to make it fall apart. The gentleman at the counter asked if I wanted everything, which ended up being onions, cilantro and salsa.

First I tried the spicy chicken. It was a bit warm but nothing overwhelming. I'm actually kind of a wimp. so if you are one who likes hot spicy hot, you might need some hot sauce on this. It was tasty though. As good as that was, the mild chicken is where it's at, for me. The chicken was tender and juicy, the marinade/sauce was flavorful. With the onions and the cilantro the whole thing was very light and fresh tasting. Even my friend and taste testing buddy, who LOVES spicy food, preferred the mild chicken.

I'll definitely be heading back to Pineda Tacos. Next time I plan on having more time to inquire about the other meats on the line, and to try something different. If you want a good taco that is not overdone, this is the place.
